Hippocampus Farm is situated in Katiyiorgis on the south eastern coast of the Pelion peninsula, an unspoilt corner of Greece that juts out into the Aegean Sea. Home of the mythological Centaur the area is picturesque, forgotten riding country. Its tiny secluded bays, winding cobbled tracks, sleepy villages, groves of gnarled olive trees and shady forests of pine and chestnut provide for varied and breath taking routes which are enhanced by the experience of exploring on horse back.
At the head of the team at HippoCampus are Eric Lefort and Hattie Thomas. Eric, originally from France has more than 40 years experience with horses and guiding and he initiated the breeding programme of authentic Thessalian horses,
which is at the heart of all our activities.
Hattie, originally from England has 20 years experience and together we aim to provide our guests with an enjoyable, safe and informative experience. We prefer to take smaller groups of 7 persons maximum to ensure we are able to provide a more personalised service. We speak English, French, German and Greek.
Our horses have all been bred on the farm and are predominantly pure bred Thessalian with some crossbreeds with a high Arab lineage. Our horses are forward going, well trained and sweet natured. The horses are between 145cm and 160cm, low withered, squarely built and muscular. We ride in Hackamore's and English style saddles. We kindly request that riders are no more than 90 kg.
